You are exactly right! The purpose of a good government is to look after the benefit of all — and I mean ALL— citizens. The rich are so afraid that ordinary people will vote to rob the rich and give to the poor, but the government’s real function is to keep them from stealing money out of our pockets. All of us, not just the wealthy, pay to care for the old and the sick and the very young — the helpless among us. The rich are always trying to figure out ways to take that money for themselves. They want to make sure that government doesn’t have enough power to defend us against them.
