I haven’t heard any of the current crop of supremacists talking about “killing people.”

They talk about it and they actually do it. They did it in front of our faces. They do it in front of our faces all the time.

Further, from an economic standpoint, it can be implemented using the “boil the lobster” approach. Regulate businesses. Demonize them. Increase the size of social services. Nationalize some social services. Justify more nationalization based on the common good. Take control of the economy. It’s a process that starts out talking about reasonable things, and only becomes unreasonable when you get past the point of no return.

Democratic socialism is going look lot like a slippery slope to you. That is usually how it is characterized by people who are terrified of it. However, we are never going to be a modern state without it. Our educational system, our health system and our infrastructure are not 3rd World yet, but they are sliding in that direction. If you want to live the American Dream you need to move to Denmark because in the USA unavailable at the moment.

The worst sophistry, of course, is inferring that the rejection of Antifa implies support for the supremacists.

It does. Sorry, but it does. It’s ignoring bloody attacks on synagogues, black churches, ignoring swastikas, Nazi chants, Nazi tattoos, and ignoring that they brought guns to “a simple protest of a statue removal.” Ignoring ALL THAT and hyperventilating because the people who oppose them smashed a few windows and are willing to hit back….well, you don’t leave many options for a conclusion.

Antifa are not civil rights activists by their own definition, and they are violent by definition

they are anti-racism and anti-white supremacy. They say they are WILLING to use violence which the civil rights activists of the 60s were not. They are young and don’t realize violence is a losing proposition. It looks so sexy! It feels so good! But those are the impulses of teenagers, not adults. Adults know that staying within the law is the only way to deal with lawless people, which is what the fascists are by definition.
