The conservatives need to reach out to the liberals with generosity and understanding

Divisive politics are tearing us apart. The right wing needs to fix it.

I’m still thinking about a line from an episode of Real Time with Bill Maher. In a discussion with Jordan Peterson, Frank Bruni, a columnist for the New York Times, said “we (liberals) need to reachout to the right with generosity.”

Really?

Our news silos

I hear a lot about how we are siloed in our own cocoon, fed news we agree with and never look over the garden wall (I think I’m up to 3 metaphors in that sentence!).

The truth is, that liberals tend to go to the extra effort to see what the other side is doing. I watch clips from Fox News and get their newsletter. I simply don’t have the strength to watch it all. I watch a lot of those clips on MSNBC, The Daily Show and Stephen Colbert. They will show those clips in order to discuss them. I haven’t seen enough Fox News to know if they ever do that. Do they show a clip of Rachel Maddow in order to explain why she’s wrong and point out her falsehoods? Perhaps a commenter can point me to some examples.
