The 2nd Amendment is — I think — deliberately vague. For more than 200 years, SCOTUS interpreted it to mean that states could have armed militias. Then a few years ago they had a sudden change of heart and decided that “militia” meant “any goober with a gun.” However, as I pointed out elsewhere, even though anybody can own a gun, they can, according to that same ruling, be regulated. Regulation isn’t confiscation. Cars are heavily regulated, taxed and vastly more expensive than guns and the roads are clogged with them. Therefore regulation, even heavy regulation, is not a burden on gun ownership.
