“Fight for our 2nd Amendment rights!” I hear that a lot. It’s a popular amendment, way more popular than the 4th or the 6th. Those two amendments keep us from becoming a banana republic, but they aren’t sexy. In fact, they are down right boring.

I want to join the fight to defend the 2nd Amendment, but I want to fight for all our 2nd Amendment rights. There are two words in the 2nd Amendment that the NRA & Co. try to pretend don’t exist — “well-regulated.”

I think we need to take a second look at that “well-regulated” language, which has been deleted or ignored by the valiant defenders of most of the 2nd Amendment. The NRA & Co. fight for removal of ALL restrictions and regulations on guns. If “militia” now means “anybody who owns a gun” that means “no regulations” is unconstitutional.

The right wing fantasy is that lefties want to go door to door rounding up their guns. “Gun Grabbers.” Does that sound familiar? (“If Barack Obama, Diane Feinstein, Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden and the rest of the Democrat gun grabbers in Congress could get away with it, they would ban and confiscate every gun in America tomorrow — and people know it.”) That fantasy has been around for at least 40 years and probably much, much longer.
