I never understood why having an invisible friend who watches everything you do and rates it for goodness or badness like Santa Claus gives life meaning. Meaning doesn’t come from an invisible buddy, it comes from what you do and who you are.

Nearly every religion has some good points. Don’t steal, don’t lie, be nice. But every religion is like an apple with a worm in the middle. That worm is belief without evidence. You’re supposed to believe the invisible buddy with no evidence. You’re supposed to believe the heaven or the hell with no evidence. Just raw blunt blank belief. All that is not a problem until some villain decides to do something blatantly evil while claiming that God wants it. Once you accustomed yourself to believing anything without evidence then it’s easy to believe the villain.
